Parent Academy for MS Parents - A Great Opportunity

Parent Academy

Parents are our partners in education, and the Sioux Center Community Schools strives to give parents the tools they need to assist their children as they learn and grow. For the 3rd  year now, the Sioux Center Middle School is offering an exciting evening of learning for parents. Our Parent Academy will provide attendees with an evening of free informational workshops.

The workshop event is designed to help parents and school professionals become full partners in the education of all students. Topics this year include understanding the NEW district parent portal (Infinite Campus), changes that are occurring grading practices – referred to as standards based grading, and technology integration via the new laptops.

Research shows that the more parents are involved, the better their children do in school, and we are always working toward academic success for all children. All Parent Academy sessions are facilitated by our experienced middle school staff and include information tailored to the given topic.

Registration is now open for the Academy, which is set for 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at the Sioux Center Middle School. There will be three 30 minute sessions to allow for parents to hear information on multiple topics. The event is FREE and open to the public. Snacks will be available from partnerships with some of our local businesses. Our 8th graders will service a childcare center for parents of young children so they can attend the sessions (supervised by an adult from the building).

Road Construction West Lyon Football game

For Warrior fans traveling to West Lyon on Friday September 6th for the varsity football game we have been advised that there will be road construction  on Hwy 182 North of Inwood up to the West Lyon school all this week. They are advising people to use hard surface road A26 coming to West Lyon from the East rather than from the South. Avoid hwy 182 if you can.
