Sioux Center CSD hires Elementary Principal

On Wednesday, February 20, 2013, the Sioux Center Community Schools Board of Education met in special session to discuss the Kinsey Elementary School Principal position.  The board reviewed application and interview materials on three candidates that had interviewed with the district earlier that evening.  After reviewing the information the Board of Education extended an offer of employment to Troy Lentell of Elkader, Iowa.  Mr. Lentell is currently prekindergarten through fifth grade principal at Central Community Schools, a position he has held for eight years.  Mr. Lentell accepted the Board’s offer and will begin his duties on August 5, 2013.

The Kinsey Elementary School Principal position became open in April of 2012 when then Kinsey Elementary school principal, Robert Mars, announced his intentions to retire.  Jill Hulshof, a sixth grade teacher in the Sioux Center Middle School, assumed the principal duties on an interim basis.

Mr. Lentell is originally from Bedford, Iowa.  Mr. Lentell received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from University of Northern Iowa in 1998.  Mr. Lentell received his Masters of Education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 2005.  Mr. Lentell’s teaching career began at Crete Community School District in Crete, Nebraska where he was a migrant education teacher.  He then taught third grade at Ankeny Community School District in Ankeny, Iowa.

Mr. Lentell and his wife, Melonee, have three children, Summer (13), Benjamin (11), and Henry (9).
